Pogue's Email
I’m drowning in email! About 120 messages a day pour in -- and that's AFTER I've cleaned out the spam. To keep from going quietly insane, I've reluctantly developed an email triage system. Please don't take this as some kind of diva stance--I'm just trying to survive here!
Here's what to expect from me:
Messages I trash
Spam and abusive email.
Messages I read, but usually don't answer
Tech-support questions. (I'm happy to clarify points I've made in my books, articles, or TV segments, however.)
"Which ____ should I buy?" questions. I'm so sorry, but I just don't have the capacity to provide personal recommendations.
Feedback to my weekly New York Times email newsletter. I'd much rather answer such messages on the newsletter's feedback page.
Messages I try to answer promptly (except when I'm on a book deadline)
Inquiries about my books or the Missing Manual series.
Business correspondence, speaking requests, and so on.
Almost anything else!
OK, sorry about all that. Now then: click here to send me email.
NOTE: Do you use MailBlocks or a similar spam service where I have to visit a Web page and type a code in order for you to receive my reply? If so, I'm very sorry, but I just don't have the time. If you don't get my response, it's because you've made it too hard!
